* A recommendation on the idle thread policy has been issued

A recommendation from the OpenMP Futures group to the OpenMP Language
group has been issued. There will be an environment variable that
will give a hint to the implementation as to what should be done with
threads which are idle between parallel regions. This environment
variable shall ask the implementation to either minimise the
turnaround time of applications or maximise the throughput for the
system as a whole. You can receive the full recommendation text
through the OpenMP feedback form at http://www.openmp.org/index.cgi?feedback.

* Discussion on merging OpenMP Fortran, C, and C++ on-going

The OpenMP Fortran 2.0 and OpenMP C/C++ 2.0 language specifications
are being merged into a single language specification. The discussion
is in a very early stage.

* SPEC OpenMP news

Unisys and Bull have joined the SPEC High-Performance Group. New SPEC
OMP2001 and HPC2002 results have been published. Both benchmark suites
contain OpenMP code, thus test OpenMP compilers. You can view all SPEC
OMP results at http://www.spec.org/omp/results. You can view all SPEC
HPC2002 results at http://www.spec.org/hpc2002/results
