calls of the previous month, and on current activities in the
world of OpenMP. You can find general OpenMP-related links
at the tail of the newsletter.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

* STMicroelectronics has joined the OpenMP ARB

We welcome STMicroelectronics/Portland Group Compiler Technology as a
new member of the OpenMP ARB.

* EWOMP will take place on October 18-20 in Stockholm. The deadline of
the CfP is 7 July 2004.

The successful experience from last year's EWOMP is continued with a
talk session and a lab session. After a two days "conventional"
workshop part with invited and contributed talks (OMPtalks), the
opportunity of having many OpenMP experts in the fields of compilers,
tools and applications on board is utilised to let users "get their
hands dirty" and do real work in a three days hands-on lab session
(OMPlab). In parallel to the OMPlab hands-on session, there is plenty
of time for additional working groups. It is up to the participants to
ignite controversies and lively discussions about OpenMP's present and
future. The workshop web site is http://www.imit.kth.se/ewomp2004. The
deadline of the Call for Papers is July 7, 2004.

* WOMPAT 2004 has taken place on May 17-20 in Houston.

WOMPAT 2004 took place on May 17-20, 2004 in Houston, TX. The web
site is http://www.tlc2.uh.edu/wompat2004/. There was a workshop on
May 17-18, and an OpenMP lab session on May 19-20. It was a good
meeting. The presentations were of high standard. There were sessions
on OpenMP Experiences, OpenMP Tools, and Futures. Invited speakers
included Tim Mattson, John Gustafson, Rusty Lusk, Larry Meadows, and
Jay Hoeflinger.

* The merge of OpenMP Fortran, C, and C++ specifications is progressing

There was a special working meeting of the committee during the WOMPAT
workshop. Good progress is being made on data sharing. There is also
work going on flush and the memory model.

* The OpenMP Tools subgroup is inviting participants

The issues being addressed by the RUNTIME telecon series requires the
persons implementing resource managers and OS schedulers to be
involved. Interested persons are invited to attend. You are invited to
contact the subgroup leader, Bronis de Supinski, at
for meeting details.
